RRB NTPC UG age limit 2026

The age limit is 18–30, counted as on 1 January 2027.

Category Born not earlier than Born not later than
UR / EWS 2 January 1997 1 January 2009
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) 2 January 1994 1 January 2009
SC / ST 2 January 1992 1 January 2009

So you must be at least 18 on 1 January 2027 and must not yet have turned 30 (33 for OBC, 35 for SC/ST). Other relaxations — PwBD, ex-servicemen and more — are in the notification's age-relaxation table. Not sure how the date works? Read what "age as on" means.

This cycle's limit is lower than the last one. The previous NTPC Undergraduate cycle allowed up to 33 because of a one-time relaxation. CEN 07/2026 does not repeat it.

Qualification

Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent from a recognised board, completed by 13 November 2026. The notification is explicit that candidates still awaiting their final results should not apply.

Coaching sites also report a 50% marks requirement in Class 12 for General candidates, with exemptions for SC/ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen. That condition sits in the notification's post-wise annexure, which we have not been able to read, so check it on the official portal before you apply.

No typing test this cycle

For the two typist posts (Junior Clerk cum Typist and Accounts Clerk cum Typist), the notification says the computer-based typing skill test has been dispensed with for CEN 07/2026; typing proficiency will be assessed after joining.

General / OBC / EWS ₹500 ₹400, less bank charges
SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minority, EBC ₹250 ₹250, less bank charges

Refunds go only to candidates who actually appear in the first CBT, and are paid to an Aadhaar-seeded bank account.

  1. First-stage Computer Based Test (CBT 1)
  2. Second-stage Computer Based Test (CBT 2)
  3. Document verification and medical examination
