SSC GD Constable 2027: Age Limit, Eligibility, Height and Expected Notification Date
SSC GD Constable 2027 notification is expected in November 2026. Who can apply — 10th pass, age 18–23 (26 OBC, 28 SC/ST), height 170/157 cm — based on the last cycle's rules, and what to check when the new notice is out.
SSC GD Constable recruits Constables (General Duty) for the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, Assam Rifles (Rifleman), NIA and SSF — the biggest 10th-pass government recruitment in the country. The 2027 notification has not been released yet. SSC's exam calendar lists it for this period, and exam trackers expect it in November 2026, with the computer-based exam in early 2027.

SSC GD age limit (last cycle)
18 to 23 years, counted as on 1 January of the recruitment year (1 January 2026 in the last cycle). If SSC keeps that pattern, the 2027 cycle would count age as on 1 January 2027 — confirm when the notice is out.

SSC GD age limit for OBC female: 26 — women get no separate age relaxation in SSC GD; an OBC woman's limit is the same as an OBC man's. EWS gets no age relaxation either.
An upper limit of 23 means you must not yet have turned 23 on the "as on" date. (How the "as on" date works.)
Educational qualification
Class 10 (matriculation) pass from a recognised board. You must hold it by the date the notification fixes — usually the last date of application. Class 12 or a degree is not required, and is not a disadvantage.

Chest (men only): 80 cm unexpanded with 5 cm expansion (76 cm for ST).
There is also a running test (PET) and a medical examination. Physical standards have more category and regional exceptions than shown here, so read the full table in the 2027 notification before you apply.
Salary
Constable (GD) is a Pay Level 3 post: starting basic pay ₹21,700 in the 7th CPC pay matrix. With allowances, monthly gross pay at entry is roughly ₹40,000–43,000, depending on posting.

Application fee
₹100 in the last cycle. Women, SC, ST and ex-servicemen do not pay.
What to do before the notification
- Check your date of birth against 1 January 2027. If you will be 23 or older on that date as a General candidate, SSC GD is closed to you this cycle — but many other 10th-pass jobs are not.
- Measure your height and chest honestly. Physical standards are where many qualified candidates are rejected.
- Keep your documents ready: 10th certificate, caste/EWS certificate in the current format, and domicile proof if you claim a regional height relaxation.
